On a spontaneous trip one day last May, a good friend and I made our way our way up HWY 22 toward the Cascade Mountains.  It was the most perfect day for weather.  The cool crisp morning burned off to a reveal a warm spring day.  The sky was as blue as I’d ever seen it.  What I discovered on this wonderful day was so simple yet so profound.  I learned to take time to appreciate the beautiful canvas God has created before us.  Things like:

  • Taking time to go off the beaten path and the anticipation of what was to be discovered around the next bend in the road,
  • Taking time to discover a picturesque view of a mountain I had never seen before,
  • Taking time to hike into an area that I would have never seen because I hadn’t stopped to get out of my car,
  • Taking time to appreciate a wild rhododendron blooming vibrantly among a desolate clear-cut hillside.

God has given us a precious gift in nature; I was just glad I took the time to appreciate it.
